My 11-Year-Old Got Certified by Sheikh Hamdan's AI Initiative. Here's What He Built With It.

I teach AI to adults for a living. 115,000+ students across 74 courses. So when my son Parikshet (now 11) started asking me what I actually do all day, I didn't give him a summary. I gave him access.

That was two years ago. What happened next wasn't what I planned.

He Didn't Just Learn It. He Started Teaching It.

Most kids who get interested in technology consume it. Parikshet wanted to explain it.

He started making YouTube videos — not polished, not produced, just a kid breaking down how AI works in language other kids could follow. No jargon. No assumed background. Just: here's what this does, here's why it matters, here's how you try it.

The channel grew. Then it grew more. Today: 6,170+ subscribers, 1,300+ videos, students in over 40 countries watching his content every month.

The site he built alongside it — KidsFunLearnClub — now has 2,100+ free learning activities, AI explainers, and project guides for kids aged 9–14. All free. Built by an 11-year-old.

The Certificate That Changed the Framing

Earlier this year, Parikshet completed the AI Prompt Engineering certification through the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, under HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's 1 Million Prompters initiative — the UAE government's flagship programme to build a generation of AI-literate citizens.

He's 11. He's one of the youngest people to complete it.

That certificate didn't change what he was already doing. But it changed how the world should read it. This isn't a kid messing around with tools. This is a certified AI educator — the youngest one I'm aware of in this region — who has been teaching the subject consistently for two years.

The Dubai Future Foundation doesn't hand out certificates for participation. You have to demonstrate understanding of how large language models work, how to engineer effective prompts, and how AI systems are applied in the real world.

He passed.

What KidsFunLearnClub Actually Is

KidsFunLearnClub is a free educational platform specifically built for kids aged 9–14 who want to understand AI — not just use it.

The difference matters. Most "AI for kids" content teaches children to prompt ChatGPT. Parikshet's content teaches them why it works, where it breaks, and what to build with it.

The site covers:

• How AI learns from data (without the maths)
• Real-world AI applications — medicine, art, wildlife, music, cameras
• Hands-on projects kids can actually complete
• Age-appropriate explainers on topics like reinforcement learning, computer vision, and natural language processing

It's structured as a learning resource, not a YouTube channel with a homepage. Every post is written for a child to read and use independently.

What I Did (and Didn't Do)

I want to be clear about my role, because people assume I built this for him.

I didn't build it for him. I built it with him — and mostly, I got out of the way.

I handled the infrastructure (server, deployment, domain). He handled the content, the teaching voice, the topics. When he wanted to explain how AI is used in hospital diagnosis, I didn't script it. I pointed him at the right sources and let him figure out how to make it understandable for a 10-year-old.

The 1 Million Prompters certification he completed entirely on his own. I didn't coach him through it.

What I gave him: access, time, and the expectation that if he said he was going to post something, he would post it.

Why I'm Writing This

Two reasons.

First: if you're a parent who works in AI or tech, your kid is watching what you do and deciding whether it's something they can belong to. Giving them real access — not dumbed-down access, not "here's a coding toy" access — is the highest-leverage thing you can do.

Parikshet didn't need a special curriculum. He needed a real environment, real tools, and someone who took his questions seriously.

Second: KidsFunLearnClub is a genuine resource. If you have a child aged 9–14 who is curious about AI, send them there. It's free, it's built for that age group, and it's written by someone who is still in that age group.

That last part turns out to matter a lot.
